He ran for all he was worth, blonde hair swept back by the wind, blue eyes filled with fear and concentration on one thing and one thing alone: getting away from whoever it was that was chasing him.
Someone with black hair and eyes to match, and sharp fangs - yes, fangs. This boy was being chased by someone with fangs.
At first, because of this mysterious person's demeanor, he'd thought he was seeing an angel. But he'd been wrong. Really, really wrong.
Just as the blonde rounded the corner, trembling from head to toe and pulse racing faster then could've been healthy, someone grabbed him from behind. He screamed as something sharp and painful peirced the skin on his neck....
Nathaniel jolted awake in bed, panting heavilly. Cold sweat soaked his brow and pillow. The blonde boy looked around and caught his breath slowly upon realizing that there was no one in his bedroom. No one in the house, even.
Nathahiel - or Nathan, as he preferred to be called - lived alone in a one bedroom apartment in England. He was only seventeen, but since his parents had died in a fire, he'd taken rather good care of himself by his own standards, considering he had to have a job, go to school, and still have time as a devout Catholic to go to mass.
He'd been having strange dreams like this one for about a month now, each one ending in him being chased and bitten by a mysterious person with black hair and dark eyes. he'd repented many a time for these dreams, being as Father Williams thought that they were a symbol of evil inside of him which needed to be taken care of immediately.
Stephen, however, hadn't been so sure. Stephen was a mysterious boy that lived in the church that Nathaniel attended. Being as he didn't have a job - or couldn't keep one, as alot of people speculated - he helped clean up the church in exchange for room and board. He never really talked much, but when Nathan had brought up his dreams, Stephen had had plenty to say.
"Sounds to me like you're having Vampire Dreams." he'd said to Nathan with a slight know-it-all expression on his face. It was common knowlage that Stephen knew everything there was to know about Vampires. He'd claimed to have researched them alot before he came to England, but some people thought differently.
One of these people was Seth Andrews, one of Nathan's best friends. He believed that Stephen was a real-life, bite-you-and-suck-your-blood vampire.
Stephen had explained that Vampire Dreams were a kind of special dream that a mortal had, but only when a nearby vampire was actually considering biting them. Nathan had scoffed in his face.
"Yeah, right. Vampires don't even exist! I almost wish they did, though. My life could use a little excitement!" he'd laughed.
Stephen had simply shrugged and said, "Careful what you wish for, Nathan. It might just come true."
As he remembered this conversation, Nathan couldn't help but realize how much Stephen resembled the man from his dream. He quickly shook the thought. Vampires didn't exist, so Stephen couldn't be one...could he? As Nathan went through his normal Sunday routine, he couldn't help but doubt himself. Nothing was truly impossible...
He ran a comb through his unruly dirty-blonde hair and sighed, blue eyes concentrating on his reflection. He did like to look his best on Sundays...but not always just for church.
He shook the image of Stephen's smiling face out of his mind. That boy's voice did things to people. Hardly anyone could help listening to him. And his appearence didn't help that any, either. Stephen's lobe length black hair and dark eyes contrasted well with his pasty white skin. He was tall - at least a head taller than Nathan - with sharp, stand-out features.
Stephen was rumered to have an older brother, but no one that Nathan knew had ever met the boy - and if he really existed, Stephen didn't talk about him very much.
Nathan scrubbed his teeth and spit into the sink, looked in the mirror and smiled, then frowned at his own reflection. To himself, he was just so...plain. He had medium tan skin, thick blonde hair that hung just below the tops of his ears, and blue eyes. His German ancestery had made him shorter than most people, which annoyed him more than anything. He stood on his tiptoes to make himself seem taller, then sighed and fell back onto his feet.
"why do I have to be so short?" he muttered. He walked into the kitchen, dressed in a clean white, button down shirt and a red tie, nice jeans, and black tennis-shoes.
He glanced at the clock and nearly gagged on his half done toast. He was going to be late for service if he didn't leave right then! Quickly, he grabbed his celtic cross necklace and threw it over his head, rushing out the door.
In service that day, Nathan stood along with everyone else as they sang the hymns. But as he looked around, he noticed Stephen staring at him with an unreadable expression on his face. Nathan gave him a quizzical expression, and Stephen shook his head and smiled, mouthing something about "Zoning out". But Nathan wasn't watching his words.
He was too preocupied with the boys particularly sharp kanine teeth.
